Glitter

There are 2 grades of glitter that are commonly used. Cosmetic grade glitter and craft glitter. Cosmetic grade glitter is a smaller cut glitter, and milled to be smooth (what we use). Craft glitter can be larger, more chunky, and jagged cut.

The FDA has never approved ANY glitter for use in cosmetics. Whether it be loose or pressed glitter, it is not approved by the FDA.

However, The FDA is very well aware that cosmetic companies use glitter to make cosmetics. The CIR (Cosmetics Ingredients Review) has tested and determined the PET Polymers (Polyethylene Terephthalates) AKA Glitter to be safe to use in cosmetics.

Presently the FDA says they have no evidence that glitter as used in cosmetics poses a health risk, and at this time are taking no action on the situation but please use at your own discretion.

Rest assured, we sell and use only cosmetic grade glitter. We would NEVER EVER sell a craft glitter. Cosmetic Grade Glitter have been tested and deemed safe by the CIR, though still not approved by the FDA. Unless the FDA decides to otherwise state that they feel its a health risk, and issues a warning to stop using to the cosmetic industry, we are compelled to believe that it isn’t a risk. The FDA has no intention at this time of enforcing any action one way or the other because they have no evidence to otherwise say glitter poses a risk.
